1970 Ferrari 312B
Grand Prix of Belgium driven by Ignazio Giunti

Ignazio Giunti's Ferrari Grand Prix career was a short one: he competed in only four races during the 1970 season. The 28-year-old Italian quickly established himself as a talented driver, earning a test in a works Ferrari sportscar in 1969. Ferrari signed him up to drive for the Scuderia in 1970 and it was soon decided that he would alternate in the second 312B with Clay Regazzoni.

Giunti participated in the Grands Prix of Belgium, France, Austria and Italy. Of the four races, he turned in his best performance at the famous 8.7-mile Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, lapping a mere two seconds slower than Ickx. For the event, Ferrari added special stripes to the Ferraris: green for Giunti and yellow for his teammate, Jacky Ickx; in the 1971 season Mario Andretti would appear in Monaco with blue stripes on his Ferrari 312B.. Despite being wrongly black flagged for dropping oil, Giunti scored an astonishing 4th place finish in his Grand Prix debut!
